Seattle, Washington

In February 2019, I had the oppurtunity to travel to Seattle, Washington with the Utah Valley University UX and Product Design Club on a "UXpedition" trip. During this visit, we met with several industry leaders and teams to talk about and experience various examples of interaction design. Below is a quick rundown of my experience.

  • Amazon HQ - Met with the voice team for Alexa and discussed the future of voice design. We also went into one of the Amazon GO stores and experienced a new way to shop.

  • Microsoft - We were able to demo several experiences with the Microsoft Holo-lens, as well as see interactive game demos.

  • Nintendo of America - We toured the building and had a discussion about web development.

  • Design Principles - We took time to notice objects and things around us that used certain design principle.

I've had the opportunity to meet with design teams locally. I have been able to attend several meetups and work alongside industry teams in design sprints where we have looked to improve on existing products or refine new projects. Below are the companies I've learned from and collaborated with:

  • 1800 Contacts - After touring their offices, we met with members of the UX design team and discussed website interaction.

  • Domo - Met with their UX team and participated in a design sprint for an internal project.

  • NuSkin - Participated in a 6 hour design sprint where we went through several stages of the UX process and later presented our projects.

  • MX - Worked with the UX team to expound on designs and solve existing roadblocks.

  • USANA Health Sciences - Participated in discussions regarding industry practices and situations.

Front Conference

Summer of 2019 I attended Utah's Front Conference as a volunteer with members of the UVU UX and Product Design Club. During this 2 day conference, we helped set up and carry out various administrative tasks and in-between we were able to listen to the speakers and learn more about product management and other principles.
